The funhouse

Carnivals, especially at night, pose whimsical threats that get our hearts racing with adrenaline. Clowns jumping out at random, wonky mirrors, unstable rides, and disorienting lights. This character comes to a carnival at night, never really feeling safe but investigating, nonetheless. She enters The Fun House where mirrors distort her visual reality. Are her fears reality or dreams? Are the creatures lurking in the darkness of her mind and soul a figment of her imagination? When she turns around what threat will she face- a monster or her mind?

The Fun House was exhibited in Poughkeepsie, NY in 2021 at the Barrett Art Center (now Trolly Barn Gallery) for “Fun House: Art of the Surreal, Fantastic and Bizarre.”
