The Clockmaster

“The Clockmaster” is a Steampunk inspired piece that began with my love for clocks and gears. The structure of this mantle clock was created by repurposing an old dining chair. I used a planar on the inner seat of the chair to create a flat square of wood that was then used for the structure behind the clock face. The legs of the chair became the columns on either side of the clock face. The top and bottom pieces were taken from the sides of the chair seat and the loop from the back of the chair.

I designed each of the gears on the back loop in Adobe Illustrator, laser cut the designs into acrylic and then spray painted them to have metallic coloring. One of these gears is attached to a mechanism that spins the clock hands and rotates while the clock is running. The metal face and hands of the clock were thrifted, as well as the gear that one of the gear bots is holding. The gear bots are made from polymer clay, wire and acrylic paint. The Clockmaster is made from aluminum foil, wire, fabric, polymer clay, leather, epoxy, super glue, metal and acrylic paint.
