Soaring

Soaring was a unique commission. The commissioner asked if I could create some sort of mosaic or mural to fit in a niche in a wall at the Hospice center that had cared for her mother. Her mother had loved cranes and she wanted to show them flying during the sunrise (her mother’s favorite time to watch the cranes). We came up with the idea to cut out pieces of wood in the shapes of the cranes and the environment to create the scene. Each wood piece is cherry and is painted with oils. The mural hangs at Hear to Heart Hospice on Walnut Street in Evansville, IN.
